Tammy Erodes Central Florida's Beaches

Full Description:

Brevard County's Satellite Beach is one of the areas in Central Florida where the waves come closest to the buildings. Some homeowners watch them hit within a few feet of their walls. The beaches are not yet restored after last year's hurricanes. Only the dunes were rebuilt and replanted, and now some of that is gone, WESH 2 News reported. High tide brought waves all the way up to the dune line, where homes and condos are uncomfortably close to the waves. Some homes in the area were smashed to pieces in last year's hurricanes. "It's greedy developers that got too close to the ocean, 15, 20, 30, 40 years ago, and now these poor folks are paying the price," said homeowner Dale Crofton.
