Consumers got a slight reprieve from rising gasoline prices Tuesday, but analysts expect prices to start rising again soon -- perhaps returning to $3 a gallon for regular unleaded this summer.
The average price for regular unleaded in Florida was $2.396 a gallon Tuesday, down from $2.402 a gallon Monday, but still above the national average of $2.320, according to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report.
Despite Tuesday's dip, Florida gas prices have risen by 14 to 15 cents a gallon in the past month, and analysts said market conditions don't bode well for the future.
The average price of a 15-gallon fill-up with regular unleaded in Florida now is $35.94, up from $33.86 a month ago. If gas hits $3 a gallon, that 15 gallons will cost $45.
